JOB DESCRIPTION

My job is to help individuals make smart decisions with their money.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I started in the financial industry in 2001 on the banking side. When I came to the securities side, I was an investment specialist for another company and started my own practice in 2006.

HOMETOWN

Hamilton, MO

QUOTE YOU LIVE BY

“If you can’t be on time, be early.” – Louise Martin

HOW YOU GOT INTO YOUR PROFESSION

While working in a bank I became interested in investment management and financial planning. I left the bank to be an investment specialist with another firm, then decided to take the next step and become a financial advisor in 2006. I made a couple of firm changes and settled into Rock Bridge Financial Advisors in early 2009. The client centric philosophy here matches with mine, we are here to help people.

WHY YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT YOUR JOB

My clients feel like family. I have the opportunity to impact people in positive ways, provide guidance when they need it most and be a bridge to help them work toward their financial goals.

THE NEXT CHALLENGE FACING THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRY

This is an industry that is in a constant state of change, both regulatory and technologically.

FAMILY

I am married with three kids, two are out making their way and the third is a high school senior. My wife and I like to take day trips and new places.

IF YOU WEREN'T DOING THIS FOR A LIVING, YOU WOULD...

I probably would have gone to culinary school. I love being in the kitchen and producing food that makes people smile.

A SURPRISING FACT ABOUT YOURSELF

I started my undergrad education as a music major. I was conducting not only my high school concert and marching band while still in high school, but assisting with a couple of other local marching bands and concert bands.

YOUR GOALS FOR THE FUTURE OF ROCK BRIDGE FINANCIAL ADVISORS

Part of my practice is special needs planning. I am in the early stages of creating a division within our firm that will specialize in this type of client centric work. There are a lot of moving parts, but I feel the education and partnership that we can provide will be valuable.

GREATEST STRENGTH

Empathy. I believe in meeting the client where they are at in life. I think I am able to relate to a lot of my client’s experiences. We all started somewhere, it’s important to remember that.

GREATEST WEAKNESS

Details; I dig into the details deeper than I probably need to. However, this has, on occasion, provided me with the opportunity to discover the "unforeseen landmines" in a client’s situation.

YOUR FAVORITE VOLUNTEER/COMMUNITY ACTIVITY TO DO IN COLUMBIA

I enjoyed cooking for Everybody Eats for several years.

BIGGEST LESSON YOU'VE LEARNED THROUGH YOUR CAREER IN FINANCE

You don’t know what you don’t know. It’s important to ask a lot of questions.

FINANCIAL ADVICE FOR OTHERS

Start now. It’s never too early to begin saving.
